Setting
up OE for Stationery
In order to properly use Outlook Express for
stationery creation and stationery saving, you must first make sure a few
settings are correct.
This, for several reasons:
1. Enable you to save images and sounds from other posts.
2. Allow you to preview your own post before sending.
3. Allow you to reply using stationery in a message thread.
Let's begin. Start Outlook Express and click on TOOLS|OPTIONS|GENERAL. At the
bottom of the window, make sure that both the OE Mail Handler and News Handler
is the default mail program. This will be indicated by the two "Make Default"
buttons being grayed-out. If they aren't, click them and APPLY the change. Click
OK.

Next, click on TOOLS|OPTIONS|SEND. Insure REPLY TO MESSAGES IN THE FORMAT IN
WHICH THEY WERE SENT is unchecked, and that the PLAIN TEXT options are selected
for both mail and news sending formats, as shown below. If not, check them and
APPLY the change. Click OK.

Now, click on the CREATE MAIL button. When the compose window appears, first
click on FORMAT|RICH TEXT(HTML) to set HTML mode. Now click on the VIEW button
on the toolbar. Insure SOURCE EDIT is checked, as shown below.

After you do this, these three tabs will appear at the bottom of the compose
window. They will be visible from now on when posting HTML stationery.

Be sure to visit the
Requirements
page to make sure your security settings and required DLL installs are complete.
After finishing these two steps, you will
be ready to create and reuse stationery!
With thanks to Letterman.
